A cornerstone of the North Whidbey Soccer Club (NWSC) program is an extensive network of dedicated volunteers. These volunteers participate as board members, coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, special event and tournament volunteers and others who support the NWSC and its teams in a variety of other ways.
As parents and caretakers, we naturally want everything that is beneficial and best for our children. Your involvement can help assure that their experience will be high in rewards and low in frustration.
The purpose of this program is to spread the work throughout the club instead of just a few volunteers and board members doing everything. There may be other duties that will arise during the each season and those duties will be posted when they become available.
We have nearly 600 players in our club with almost 70 teams. However the club is being run by about a dozen volunteers… we need the help!
Here’s how you can help:
Coaches/Assistant Coaches Administrative Fields/Gear – Information Table, Field Marshals Special Events Tournaments
Coaches and Assistant Coaches - Volunteer coaches form the core of the NWSC experience and are the heart and soul of the teams. We are grateful for your diligent effort, determination, and the time and energy you spend helping our players develop their skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork in pursuit of excellence in soccer. Every new season brings a new group of U6 boys and girls teams to our club and so, this age group typically needs additional volunteers. If you would like to participate as one of our valuable NWSC coaches or assistant coaches this season, please contact nwscregistrar@gmail.com.
Administrative - We are always looking for volunteers that can help with some of the administrative duties of the club. Advertising, public relations and organizational tasking. If you are interested please contact nwscregistrar@gmail.com.
Fields/Gear - NWSC strives to make the many fields it maintains both playable and beautiful for our players and supporters alike. At the beginning of each season, these fields need to be measured with goals placed and gear sorted and issued. Each weekend we need fields flagged and field marshals to help visiting teams and spectators locate the correct fields. At the end of the season, gear is returned and resorted, so volunteers are always needed. If you are interested please contact nwscregistrar@gmail.com.
Field Marshal – An ambassador from NWSC to our visitors and spectators. Field Marshals oversee the activity and conduct of spectators off the field of play. A Field Marshal will assist spectators with questions, insure all spectators are in appropriate areas around the field and enforce our NWSC No-Dog Policy. If you would like to help maintain and patrol our fields this season, please contact NWSC Public Relations at nwscsponsorship@gmail.com.
Special Events - We are always looking for help getting our special events organized and running smoothly. For more information or if you are interested in helping to organize and work either of these event please contact nwscsponsorship@gmail.com.
Picture Day Coordinator- We need a parent that would be willing to help coordinate, organize and manage our picture day. Coordinator will facilitate the distribution of all photo packets by team, usually through on-site (home) distribution over an organized, one week period. Coordinator will also organize assistants that will work a 2-hour shift on Picture Days. Assistants will help organize teams at check-in, and facilitate the completion of all necessary paperwork. Volunteers do not assist with photography.
Holland Happening/4th of July Parade - NWSC marches in these 2 parades! If you would like to help please contact nwscsponsorship@gmail.com.
Tournaments - NWSC hosts the ‘Rock On 3v3′ tournament in May. We are always looking for volunteers to help run the weekend.
High School students who need to earn volunteer hours may contact nwscregistrar@gmail.com to find out more about our Coaching Mentor program and other volunteer opportunities.
Thank you to all the families and individuals who dedicate their time to help out. Whether it’s a few hours a year, or a year-long commitment every effort is greatly appreciated.
